Ocean Hackathon® is an initiative by “Campus mondial de la mer” which encourages sharing the use of new digital technologies and an entrepreneurial spirit. The resultant projects enhance the value of marine and maritime data, often by repurposing it. Data providers focus their efforts on improving data accessibility and comprehension and are involved in coaching participants throughout the event.
Erwan Bescond, Head of the entrepreneurship department at Technopôle Brest-Iroise: The challenges 2020 essentially responds to the “Tech for Good” logic that is increasingly infusing our innovation ecosystems. Indeed, most of these challenges aims at using new technologies to solve societal and environmental issues raised by the exploitation of marine resources. This year, a greater number of companies submitted challenges to Ocean Hackathon®. This bodes well for the emergence of new products and services at the forefront, allowing the responsible and sustainable exploitation of our seas. Quality challenges that now require the creation of multidisciplinary teams!

Ocean Hackathon® is a 48-hour non-stop event during which teams work solely from a range of marine digital data to develop a prototype and examine its possible uses.

Join the Ocean Hackathon® from September 7th by registering in your city and, from October 9th to 11th. you will be part of a team for developing one of the challenges approved At the end of the weekend, a team will be elected to take part in the international pitching competition at the end of 2020 in Brest and may win one of the prizes offered by our Ambassadors.
